The EPI Air Filter Wall, or Exhaust Air Treatment system is an effective way to reduce odor, dust and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from large volumes of exhaust air. Air passes through a field of ions generated by EPI Air corona lines. These ions bind dust particles as well as VOCs. Dust particles become charged, and will aggregate into larger particles. Additionally, VOCs will be trapped in the dust particles and more volatile compounds will be degraded by the surrounding ions.

Iowa Select Farms installed EPI Air Filter walls at the end of two tunnel ventilated swine finishing barns near Alden, Iowa. The collected samples upstream and downstream of the Filter Wall and measured particulate concentration at the 2.5μm and 10μm levels. The objective was to quantify the performance of this system in regards to odor and dust control. Measurements were conducted every other week for a 4-month period with measurements being conducted one time with the fence on, the second with the fence off to evaluate the role the geotextile fence and the role the electrostatic precipitation fence had on odor and dust reduction. The results of this study showed a total suspended particle reduction by the EPI Air Filter Wall of 50%.
